Polygon, previously known as Matic, is a layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution that is well-structured for the development of the infrastructure. It also serves as a framework for building and connecting networks that are compatible with Ethereum or Blockchain. It was founded by Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun.
The founders are the first crypto billionaires of India. The platform recently secured an investment from Shark Tank’s Mark Cuban, the owner of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Dallas Mavericks. The sum of the investment has not been disclosed.
The organization also conducted a COVID-19 relief program which has raised more than $1 billion USD. The platform is paving the way for scaling mechanisms related to the blockchain network.
It has its own native tokens, the MATIC tokens which can be purchased on exchanges that support Defi tokens such as CoinBase Pro, UniSwap, Binance, BiONE, ZebPay, Huobi Global, WhiteBIT, and Hotbit.
Sandeep Nailwal
Sandeep Nailwal is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Polygon. He has completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Information Technology. His responsibilities include onboarding decentralized applications on the Matic network to achieve scalability and quicker transactions. designing product and network strategies for long-term velocity, fueling user adoption for Matic network and DApps based on the platform and designing and deployments of the DApps on the Matic Network. His previous work experience includes positions of Intern as well as Consultant at Deloitte, Head of Technology and Supply Chain of the E-commerce division in Welspun Group, Co-founder and CEO at ScopeWeaver.com, a platform for the development of the Blockchain Network and DApps ( Decentralized Applications).
Jaynti Kanani
Jaynti Kanan is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Polygon. He has completed his Bachelors of Engineering in Information Technology from Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology. His previous work experience consists of organizations such as Persistent Systems (Senior Software Engineer), Function Space (Software Artisan), Data Scientist at Housing.com, and presently the founder of Polygon. He has always been fascinated by blockchain technology and scaling mechanisms such as plasma, state channels, and others.
Anurag Arjun
Arjun Anurag is currently the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Co-founder at Polygon. He has completed his Bachelors in Engineering ( Computer Engineering) at Nirma Institute of Technology. His prior work experience includes Programmer Analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions, Working Partner, and Product Manager at Dexter Consultancy Pvt. Ltd, Project Manager and Scrum Master at SNL Financial, AVP & Product Management at IRIS Business Services Limited, and presently the Co-founder at Polygon. His responsibilities at Polygon consists of:
- Defining the Matic product road map
- Acting as the bridge between Research, Economics, and Engineering functions
- Defining technical specs for product features and research elements
- Product and project management across all modules
- Handling integrations with Partner networks and DApps
- API documentation
- Recruiting and maintaining a great team
- Third-party developer network build-out and documentation
- WalletConnect integration as a core part of the Matic platform
- Dagger and SQL integration
